I've asked the same and the consensus has been that the eta should be safe going to 6k in short bursts but no constant 5k+. Factory etas are limited to somewhere around 5k. Some would say that a TD crank in the eta would allow higher redline but it's debatable. However I have also had several state that the M20 is pretty bullet proof in general. BTW I have a 2.7 eta w/ a Schrick 272 in my 323i and I run it up over 5k often but never over 6k. I suppose that it is kinda limiting and it kinda sucks cause 5k+ is really where the fun starts.
