Wheel bearings/Driveshaft? (archive)

I just recently replaced the wheel bearings on the rear left wheel of my 79 320i because they were destroyed. It still makes a grinding noise occasionally (but it has only done it 4 or 5 times since I got it back last week). Could this grinding noise be due to damage on the driveshaft because it was making the same noise before I replaced the bearings, only it would make the noise constantly. THanks for your help!
