i have a 79 320i and i do about 4000 rpm a lot. will i mess up the engine? because that seems really high for me but i have to go 70 plus to avoid the shimmy deal

Running 4000rpm should not hurt, just keep up the oil change and transmission fluid change. I drove my 1980 320i since brand new with high rpm, so far so good. But I do the oil and fluid changes religiously.
