First off it would be very unusual if the rod broke in a normal situation never mind a proper break-in procedure. If it was over reved then let go you dont have a leg to stand on. If not then I would suggest that you take it to another shop to have them inspect the work, if they find the rod bolts were incorrectly installed and the cap fell off then you might have a case in court. $3000 doesnt sound like very much for the work done, I doubt it was properly rebuilt.

well, I just had a motor put in my car by a mechanic and well, I also threw a rod 4 days later...... Does any of the parts from a 2.3 block fit into a 2.7 block... The motor I had him build was 2.7 block, w/ a shrick cam and all the works. If the head is good, will I be able to use it on a 2.3 block...I pulled the 2.3 liter out because it smoked but, I need a car and the mechanic is trying to be a prick and not want anything to do w/ backing his service up...The worst thing is, he wrote on my bill of sale, NO WARRANTY..... I think he may have known something... well anyways, someone help me.... my 4 day motor cost me $3000......!!!!! thank you...:)
