i have intake on the car and it it letting a lot of air into the engine. would this cause the engine to go up to 1500 after a few sec of warming up or if the air control is turnned on?

jason

thanks for everyones help

i replaced the 02 sensor and pushed the reset buttom to make the light go off.

Turned out that my TACH was actually reading incorrectly. My idle was a steady 900-950 rpm (83 320i) but the TACH would read 1500-1600 rpm. I knew from previous experience that I should be at exactly 3000 rpm at 70 mph, yet the tach was reading 5000 rpm, and there were no tranny or clutch problems. SO...make sure it's all reading correctly. Also might want to check auxiliry air valve.
