I can't get sump pan to seal - any ideas? (archive)

Despite being on my second cork gasket (genuine), then trying using blue sealant either side of it on the most recent attempt, I can't seem to get the sump to seal properly, most notably near the transmission end. Has anyone any bright ideas as to what I can do? It's a euro 320/6 with pressed steel pan. Also does anyone know if the (presumably) sturdier later cast sump pan will fit and clear the crossmember. Thanks all.
