The best size tire for the 15x6 rim on a 320i, in my opinion, is the 195/55-15. The 205/50's I have tried are a little too wide for the 6" rim, and the 195/50's are too small in diameter (speedo reads high by about 8% & more engine revs per mile). They are making performance tires now in 195/55-15, which is a good fit for the rim width, and less than 2% increase in diameter over stock 185/70-13.


I've got a set of 15x6 rims for E-21 chassis....dead ringers for stock turbines, as they were made specifically for BMW.

Question: When I can afford tires, should I go with 195 or 205 tread width?

Since stock rims are 5.5 with 185 70 13, I caclculate roughly 202 for the proportion of 6 over 5.5. I realize 3mm aint much, but don't want to oversize and deform the tire contact patch.

Any comments would be appreciated.
