Panasonic stereo into 318i (archive)

I just purchased a cream puff 1993 318i sedan equipped with a standard stereo/casette for my daughter. She has a high-end Panasonic system with big speakers, amps, etc. (I don't understand all that stuff) in her old car and wants to move it to the BMW. Is that a problem? What's involved. What should it cost to have it installed? What is the downside, if any?
