for you info..it can be done..along with the engine, tanny and driveshaft you will also need the front cross member..that is the part that allows for the swap...without it I have been told you are out of luck...

there is more info on the swap on the "Gray Market Web Site" I don't have the address off hand but its easy enough to find it...

I have an 81 323i and it is a real kick in the pants...along with some strange looks I get when I pop the hood and it contains a 6 banger instead of the 4...

good luck
Greg
81 323i

I saw an e21 at the local junkyard today, noticed the dual exhaust. First I thought it was a "grand am" job, but then realized both mufflers were connected. This is a 323i, not a 320i/6, correct? Could this engine be swapped into a garden variety 320i, 2002, e30. Or would I have to find another 323i or would a 320i/6 work. How rare are these? The reason I'm asking is that I prob. could get the motor and tranny for $150, plus had euro bumpers and exhaust was in good shape. I'd like to build it up and put it into something. After swapping a 5-speed into my e23 I'm hooked on older bimmers!

Please advise!

Aaron Wyatt
