Help, Problem with clutch! (archive)

I have an '83 320i. When I shift from one gear to another my stick clicks. It almost is a grinding sound. It makes moving the stick difficult but it does not effect performance in any way. I don't know what is wrong with it. I have tried starting the car in higher gears and the clutch does NOT slip. I first noticed the clicking/grinding shortly after I had a small fender-bender. I don't know if the problem is related.
