also the flywheel sizes may be different,
i think your '73 will have a larger flywheel so you may need a diff throwout bearing for 320.

may be easier to get a junkyard 4 spd w/ attached goodies and driveshaft. there may be more involved, but that's what i know from my 2002 5-spd conversion.
