When my car is warming up in the morning,it is ok and smooth if I do not press on gas. If I press on gas and release it, the engine RPM will drop and stop. After warming up, the idle RPM is going up and down.

Ted, your car may have the infamous leaking vacuum problem. Even the slightest vacuum leak causes these engines to behave erratically. Solution: check all hoses, replace them if in doubt, tighten the clamps. Also, replace the O2 sensor, especially if it is older than 1 or 2 years. If you are in the USA, you can buy a generic Bosch O2 sensor at AutoZone for about $25. It is the same as the BMW one but with a different electrical connector, but it comes with some fittings you crimp on.
