As I recall, the 320/6 has solid rotors in front and drum brakes in rear, utilizing a brake force limiter to limit the pressure going to the drums.

323i has vented rotors in front and solid rotors in rear. No brake force limiter required.

I think either brake setup will stop adequately given short and normal bursts of use around town. However, sustained use of the brakes when driving on a track or just really hard through rural routes would require a brake setup designed with some air flow to cool down brake components.

In my 323i, I have had several wonderful opportunities to drive very aggressively where I would repeatedly hammer down on the brakes, downshift, upshift, and just peg the motor to redline. After 20 minutes of driving like so, the brakes on my car eventually fades.
