funny noises from a nice little car (archive)

I just rebuilt the engine on my 1980 320i (310,000mi). I just got done. When i drive it, there is a thumping sound when I accelerate. I think it has something with the drive shaft. HELP, so i can drive this beauty.
Any Ideas?
