Carburation and turbos isn't really a good idea. the better part of it would have to be custom and tuning a carb with a turbo can be tricky.

If you can find a used kit, you can have ~ 185 horsepower with an other wise stock engine.

I have no concept of what's involved in adding a turbo, but am interested in knowing how to do it. I'm reverting to carburation(a la 38/38 weber), and stroking the 1.8 to 2.0. Why not put a turbo on it too! Thanks, Josh

There was actually a turbo version of the 320i made, but it was fuel injected, and I can't begin to imagine the complications of carbing it. I would make a decision as to whether you want the carbs or the turbo. The disadvantage of the turbo is the loss of low RPM torque in addition to a narrow power band, so keep that in mind. Horsepower ain't everything.
