Glad to have found this board. I have a 1980 320i 4 cyl. and a 1980 320i 6 cyl. Im having problems with my 320i 4 cyl fuel injection dist. It's so bad that my 4th cyl doesn't fire. Ive checked for spark like four time's just to be sure. The only way ive got the 4th cyl to fire is to change the fuel line's at the fuel dist.I did tried fuel injection cleaner; no luck the fuel dist. was replaced with a used one 10 months ago also the fuel reg. is new,new filter and coil's. does anybody know where to go from here.Thank's in advants.

If I understand your problem: you got four to fire by switching the fuel line from where 4 left the dist t, say, where 3 left. So then four fired but the other one, 3 in my example, didn't? And this happened with only one fuel dist, the one you have now, and has been in the car for ten mo's? OR did it happen with the old distributor which is why you changed it out?

IF the problem is with this new (relatively) fuel dist only, it could be that the slit in the plunger leading to 4 is clogged. I have never opened one up, and it is not recommened. So you might be looking at a rebuild if that is the case. IF you are really ambitous, you could practice on your old one, assuming you still have it.

That's all I can think of, but if you could clarify exactly what happened, I could help you diagnose it better.

Have fun,

Mark
