Just completed installation of a set of H&R springs on mine.
In addition to a good spring compressor you will need 1) tie rod puller, screw type, and 2) a come-along to pull the front sway bar together to easily remove and replace the lower control arm. These can be rented at most rental yards.
Installing the sport springs was simplified since no spring compressor is needed due to their shorter free length.
Check your "auxilliary spings" -- these slide onto the shocks' shaft and keep the suspension from bottoming out. All four of mine were just debris on the shocks. The E30 parts work on the E21 front shocks in case you have trouble locating the original part.
By the way -- there are clearance holes in the rear to reach rear shock upper mounting nuts. Requires pulling the rear seat. In my case this was easier than working in the confined space of the trunk.
Total time was about four hours -- and I am not the fastest shade tree mechanic.
Best of luck,
Gabe
Hey All I need to know if I should put the springs in myself....Or pay someone to do it? is it hard work?
