"I just went through the driving school, and the instructor who is a current race and stunt driver. I don't want to get into details as I am no mechanic, but that's what he recommend. However, he did say the ride could be a little stiff. My $0.02 opinion."

Steve ,

I don't claim to be a mechanic either , but if your driving school instructor advised you to run your tires at 40psi on the street he did you a great diservice .

It may be true when driving a race car (or stunt car ??) that youd want higher pressures .
That way the tire is really working for you , not folding under the pressure (excuse the pun) .

As for the ride being a "little stiff" , well I would think so .
You never really want to run more than a few pounds higher than the car specs for .
I believe the 323 calls for 28/28 .
And I would't go beyond 35psi for that car on the street .

In case you're not aware , a tire gains 1 psi for every 10deg increase in ambient air temp .
So depending on when you set it at 40 , that 40psi cold setting could go as high as 50 psi or more given the right day and conditions .
That would really be a hard tire .
Not good .
