gday,
im new to BMW's, and have been into motorsports for a few years. my isuzu gemini (opel kadett) that i use to rally/circuit race died a while back, and ive been looking for a replacement car ever since. Everyone at my local car club runs datto `1600's.. but i was looking for something different that can be as competitive. one day i was doing some work on a E21 323 (i work for a BMW specialist) and had a good look over it, and in theory it looks the goods.. and here i am.

i was just wondering what would be a better car to race, a 4 cyl version or a 6cyl version?? ive been a 6 and V8 man all my life so the 323's etc are my obvious choice, but with the extra weight of the 2 extra cylinders does that make the m a pig to handle like the 6 cyl cortinas or V8 toranas?? i dont really care what engine i have as 250 -300 hp would be quite enough, and since the car wont be driven on the streets, would be easily achievable with any engine. so what do you guys think would be a better potential handling car a 4cyl or 6 cyl??

sorry for the length of the post, but im having trouble finding ANY info in australia, noones really into BMW's here.. in a matter of fact whenever i bring the subject of racing a BMW up all i get is alot of laughs!!
thanx in advance
Cameron
