I looked up the VIN on Arne's website:
http://members.home.net/e21graymarket/index.html
(go to euro- differences section). VIN shows up as a 323i, 1981.

Some things to investigate further:

Does it have rear wheel disc brakes and rear sway bar? Dual exhaust?

euro e21's have the jack stowed in the rear spare tire well .
USA e21 have the jack stowed by the fenders to pass bumper impact laws.

How much is it being sold for if I may ask?
