I have a '79 323i and wanted to swap in a e-36 2.8l motor and trans. Has anyone done such a conversion or maybe able to direct me to someone that has? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have had a few thoughts about this, lighter than an M20, as good power as the S14 and a lot cheaper. From what I know the sump is the biggest probelm, but http://www.zionsvilleautosport.com/ provide a kit for the E30 so if it fits an E30 I assume it's going to fit an E21.

the other diiferences are going to be the drive shaft and eletric speedo (for that I though about the complete cluster from an E30 which I have seen doen before).

If you find out anymore I would be interrested to know.

Jason
