1980 Front suspension/steering parts into a 1979 (archive)

Whats the difference between 1979 & 1980 front strut housings? The parts books show the same control arms for both years, but different strut housings. I have complete front suspension from a 1980 320 and want to use it on a 1979 320 struts/springs/brakes/steering rack/control arms). I noticed the steering racks were slightly different (the 1979 has a damper & the 1980 does not). Will there be any problems if I change all this out together?
