use carfax before buying (archive)

I just got a carfax account and ran all my vin's. My 320iS has an extra 40k that confirmed my suspician from when I bought it. The speedo cable came off after the first month and had me wondering. I called the guy and he said his brother was a mech and replaced some bulbs under the dash. Anyway I am buying again and ran the vin on the new car before purchase and it was clean but I did find out where it was originaly sold as a lease car. I would reccomend running the vin (carfax.com) to anyone looking at buying a used car.
