I'm seeing similar problems with my '82 (185K miles) Though I'm also getting horrible gas mileage.

I did find one tiny air leak by spraying carb cleaner on the hoses with the engine running and listening for hesitation. Changing the hose made a noticeable difference in engine performance, but I'm still not satisfied with the mileage.

I changed the 02 sensor as my plugs had some pretty serious carbon on them, and the previous owner mentioned he never changed it ("it's just some dumb emissions control thing" was what he said).

I'll let you know what I come up with. I'm doing this one weekend at a time.
