idle weirdness - help wanted (archive)

Ever since the smog check earlier this week the idle has been troublesome. I lowered it to about 900rpm which did the trick but then the next day it was so low it dies. So I raised it back up a little and later in the day its much higher. Lower it back down a little, seems good, then later in the day its too low. What the hell is going on here?
