I called bmw b/c of faulty org camber plate asked for last seven of vin and they show my vin as a 318i. went to bmw's website and registered in owners circle and it shows the vin with correct color and year though as a 318i, however the car is definitley a 1983 opel green matallic 320i. Has anyone else ran into this or had a faulty camber plate missing bearing/s?
I sell alot of Bimmers, and I run into this alot. Sometimes the VIN# will give the distinction for a smaller (base)motor, or base package. The motors that are actually in that car, emblems, seats, etc. would be listed as option for that platform type. It does get wierd sometimes. Imagine trying to sell a 328is and the customer has a CarFax that says 318is. You should not worry....
