I cut the springs on my e12 works like a champ. Did it by mounting a 7" cutoff wheel in the skill saw. That really makes the sparks fly.
- I did not flatten the end coil, but did use the side of the cutoff wheel to chamfer the cut, about 1/4 the thickness of the coil, twice as long as deep (more sparks fly) :-)
- There's still enough tension on the springs to keep them seated when the car is on jacks.
- Cut end up

BTW at a drivers' school the old fiver was keeping up with new 325 in the corners. This is a good thing to do. :-)
