I was able to replace a couple hoses without dropping the tank. There are tie straps tying hoses together which have to be cut first. Also, the front tank mounting bolts can be loosened a lot thus gaining some clearance. The hose channel will probably be rather dirty so put a bolt or something in the hoses to prevent ingesting dirty into the hose.

I devloped the common problem of a gas smell in the car when the tank is full on my 320i. Thanks to past postings here I had an idea where to look. I found the vent hose between the tanks dried out , cracked and leaking. My question is do I have to drop the driver side tank to replace this hose? this would be a pain! Thanks for any help.
