I have headers with 2.5" all the way out on my 83' 320is with no problems. The area to watch out for is where the exhaust usually goes over the rear axle. That area the plumbing has to go under the axle to avoid being crushed. I will also add that I'm running a H&R lowered suspension.

Im getting a performance muffler in the future. It think the inlet is 2 1/2 Is it okay to run 2 1/2 for the whole car?

Would it be alright? any negative things? like deep tone.
