You'll need to disconnect the exhaust downpipe to allow the engine/trans to tilt. Also diconnecting the quibo and supporting the rear of the trans while unbolting the trans mount is really the way to go.

I got new bushings with a short shifter. Was able to install without dropping the trans, but it's a serious PITA that way. But for us without lifts and transmission jacks, it's about the only way... I suppose you could just unbolt the guibo and trans support and lower the back end an inch or so on a floor jack without needing to remove it.
