If its cracked its ready to fly apart. Could easily damage a radiator, dent the underside of the hood, or hit you in the face. When I got my car the fan was really toast with chunks missing. The new one was in the trunk fortunately but putting it on meant removing the radiator first. See the photo's for the old / new fans at the address below.

there is a good chance of it flying apart and putting someones eyes out, other than that the cooling affect wouldnt be much, why did it break/crack?
