323i 4 speed trans - is it worth anything ? (archive)

About three years aog, the previous owner (PO) got a garage to replace his broken 4 speed ('80 323) w/ a used one out of a junkyard. He was charged $250 for it, and it came out of a 79 323 donor. PO also paid $16 for new shift tower bushings, and $250 labor to install.

I reckon most people w/ the M20 motor is generally looking to upgrade into a 5speed. Thus, does anyone know if this 4speed trans on the market goes for $250 - or not ?
