I just changed the windshield on this beast.. it took me three hours because I was stupid enough to take the rubber sealant out, put the windshield in it, and then try to put the whole assembly back on. Bad idea since that lip on the inside is a real bastard to get in. Taking it back out and getting all of the sealant back out was the most time consuming. I do have pictures of us putting the windshield in the correct way, in case anybody else is going through this. It's water tight, put it through two car washes with towels around the window just to be sure.. hehe. I used cylicone for the rubber-to-chassis and windshield sealer (obviously) for the windshield-to-rubber. This is the first time driving this car with a windsheild, and man are they quiet. Now, from what I've seen the car is pretty screwed up gas-wise. I've already changed the gas tank (you wouldn't believe what the gas looked like in there.. ever been in a cave?), and had the pleasure of changing the fuel lines, when I then discovered the fuel injector had to be changed as well. I've already ordered new rims/tires, which'll be here in a week, which is good, since all four rims are severly damaged, and the fronts are turned inwards -- so much so that just from driving it around the block the wire is coming out everywhere on otherwise brand new tires (well, 18 year old brand new tires). The brake lines had to be changed, and the reason I want high performance brakes is because I don't feel like pissing my money around buying stock ones when I'm going to end up changing them anyway. The engine is (I swear) in pretty good condition, ALL the seals are fine, except for the ones around the headers, which doesn't make sense to me since it was never driven. But anyways, it's good. The oil was drained 3/4 of the way when the car was intended to sit, but whoever sealed the nut back on didn't do a very good job and there's rust all around it, so much so that when I filled it up it was drained out in a day. I'm about to change the oil pan, and after that I'm thinking about where to go. But what I do want to know, is what are the best brakes I could put on this car. The new rims are 16" so I'll have a bit of room to work around. Any suggestions? I'm also wondering about those euro bumpers.
Also, if it helps, I have an 82 320i and a 323 (year unknown) in a junkyard that are complete (minus the engines). So I can get any part for these two cars....
