OK with everything I read from everyone heres my analogy.You either have not enough fuel pressure underload or the timing of your car is off.If you get backfire the advance /retard is not adjusting to engine speed and vacuum.I would start there.Your car generates power by sparking the fuel quicker on a curve to create power.If you are getting sputtering or hesitant accelleration I would look at dirty fuel injectors.You can clean them with some carb cleaner and some compressed air.The fuel pressure regulator works on the vacuum of the motor,so,If the timing is off so too will the pressure regulator.
