This is one of the most irritating facets of old car ownership. Often difficult to trace. Do you feel its more in the front or the rear of the car? The cloth covered fuel hoses (many) are sometime hard to tell between oily/dirty and leaking of fuel. When I got my car it had some obvious heavy leaks (why I got it free) but some of the hoses I replaced where also weeping rather than leaking. There are a number of hoses at the back of the car just under the back seat area. Fuel pump, filter, accumulator, fuel tanks all reside in the area too. Most likely you have a leaking hose somewhere. The top of the fuel tank has the fuelpickup and level sender and access is from inside the car under the back seat. These were soaked on my car yet I didn't really smell it. I replaced most of the lines though I had to buy the largest line from the BMW dealer since nobody carried such large diagmeter high pressure hose and use hose clamps. Much cheaper than buying the official hoses with banjo fitting ends etc. As I've suggested so many times on this board, degrease the area near the fuel pump/filter etc and you should be able to better see what it leaking/weeping.

I've been smelling a strong smell of fuel in & outside of the car, I had it checked & nothing wrong was found. Does any one have any ideas. Please, let me know..
