I replaced the starter on my 79' and when I went to start it, nothing. Same problem as you are having. All I had to do was switch connectors on the starter. It started right up. Hey man, I feel for you on the issue of these cars being a tight fit to work in. I scared my arms for life.
Good luck,
Daniel
can you get the starter to turn by connecting it straight to the battery? maybe it's a bad starter.
-just a thoughtI just replaced the main heavy starter wire on my car last week. Its a 4ga wire from the battery to the starter. Are you getting voltage at the large lug on the starter?
PS
They fit. Same connections, same size.
I held 'em both in my hand before I did it and looked. Didn't appear to be any fitment issues.
Besides, fit or no fit, it ain't gettin' any spark :(
A bad connection with the alt would not cause this condition though, would it? I mean, I get NOTHING from the starter, and all it gets is curses from me.
