Both Gabe and Andy are exactly right. After all the car is 20 years old. Grounding and oxidation of electrical connections are definitely the cause. I imagine your car is parked outside, trying to park it indoor if possible? Take the fuse box apart on a summy dry day, and clean it all up. Check all electrical connections accessible. If you have a rusty car, you have a lot of work ahead of you.
