Disagree... I ran an 1.8 head on my race car with 2002 manifold and 38/38. You need to plug the injector holes. In my case, I cut a metal disk to fit the injector hole and then filled the hole it with epoxy.

On the 80-up 320i, the cylinder head had ports for the injectors built in. This prevents modifications such as carburation. The 79-down 320i used a fuel rail which can be removed, and then you can carburate it with big sidedrafts or the like, cool stuff. So to answer your question, no, a 2002 intake manifold won't fit, and no, a 2.0L manifold won't fit, because of the head. HTH!
