Castrol Super Concentrate degreaser - or some similar name. Comes in a purple bottle. Also an old dishwashing brush and plenty of water. Start from the top and work your way down. If you're as anal as I you'll also do the wheel wells, transmission and tunnel and differential/fuel pump area. Everything is much easier to work on and any new leaks are obvious and easy to trace.
