79 320i started, but now won't start, need help (archive)

I just bought this car for $200 after it had been sitting for 3 years. It started and ran rough but after it warmed up it ran really well. It got a little hot at the gas station so I turned it off. It reluctantly started but ran rough and never ran right. I checked the voltage at the coil with the key on an it was 8.18 to 8.47v. The starter turns slowly at times and faster at others. It is getting fuel to the fuel distributer and the cold start valve but no spark or sometimes one spark only. I jumped the battery to the coil and tried again but no luck. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
