My buddy finally finished welding up the floor plan of the '82 320i and I drove it today.

Stats: '82, one owner, 138K, new steelies, new tires, car phone w/ hands free, Alpine stereo, factory sport steering wheel, AC blows cold, fog lamps, runs perfectly, shifts perfectly. New paint last year. The mechanic who has it now showed me the PO's last receipt for the car: almost $1800!!!! New Boge's, new springs & perches, control arms, shifter linkages, etc. That's just the one reciept, too.

The bad: small hole in shock tower near trunk floor, bubbles of rust in one rear external seam, and in one wheel arch. Nothing big, still in early stages. Mechanic will weld those up for me. Otherwise, paint is excellent and fresh.

I can get the car for about $1300. Sounds fair to me...does it sound fair to you?

Oh, and funny - potentially KILLER - incident on the test drive. PO broke the gas pedal, leaving a small chunk of it on the linkage. I floored it on a ramp and it STUCK at WOT. Freaked me out! I immediately shut it off and was able to pull over. Whoo. First purchase: gas pedal!!!

Anyway, I'm just sap-happy and blabbing =) I have a CRane Hi-6 waiting to go in, a couple harnesses on the way...now I have to sell my Mercedes.

Anyone in the DC area need a good, solid '84 300D turbo??
