You'd be fine. The "automatic" style shock that originally came on our cars (oil vs. gas-filled) wouldn't stand up to well to the cut springs. But the turbo- and pro-gas shocks are supposed to be excellent. I had trouble locating the pro-gas, but the turbo gas are readily availible for about 10 bucks more than the automatic style. I was actually looking for some of those in Berkeley when the guy at the shop told me he'd sell me some NOS billies for cheaper than the boges, so that's why I bought them, but I was perfectly ready to put turbo gas on my car w/ the springs.
HTH!
