Not an expert, but I think real Alpina's have a special ID number or tag from the dealer. Check for other signs.....diff cover should have BIG cooling fins. Special Recarro seats. Etc. Check the www.alpina.com website.

If it's real....it's probably worth some serious ka-ching. And will probably only be worth more as time goes on. Hacking it, even for weight reduction, would be a shame. These are rare.

I saved this piece from a guy in Penn that was planning on hacking it up for parts to rebuild his 02. It was by about ten seconds that I ended up with it. I handed the guy the money and as he was walking to his office to do the paperwork, the butcher called to tell him that he was on his way. Anyway, I'm pretty sure this car is a dealership conversion. From my understanding, dealerships would buy packages from Alpina and assemble them there, however the conversions weren't as extensive as the factory ones. It has the 15" 20 spoke rims, but they are not staggered. It also has the dashplate, shifter, steering wheel(not OE), and rear spoiler. I plan on prepping it to race, but I'm not sure how far to go w/ weight red. etc. until it starts to depreciate the value of it. Any suggestions?

Thanks

jago
