I'm getting a similar problem with my $50 1977 320i. With a working fuel pump relay installed, the car will crank, fire up, run for a second or two, then immediately die. I've got to replace a missing "Idle Control Valve" then try again.

I can't find a correct engine wiring diagram for a 77-78 320i though. If anyone has one, I'd sure like a copy!
