Hey guys

when I drive my 1981 320i there is alot of shakieness in the steering wheel. Some sort of wierd vibration. I am not sure if it coming from the suspension tires and wheels or if it is a vibration from the engine. What do you guys think.

Thanks

Jeff fenn

I had a 1977 320i and remember it having a slight shimmy at about 50-55mph, even when it was brand new. I eventually spoke to a couple different factory mechanics and they both informed me that this was a common problem, a design defect. It never felt that it would cause the car to go out of control, but at times it became a bit annoying. After, I upgraded the shocks to Bilsteins and tires to a wider 205/13, it became hardly noticeable. Also, frequent front-end alignments didn't hurt either.

Greg
