Front suspension in these cars is really suscpetible to any little imperfection in tires, shocks, bushings, etc. Usual symptom is felt as shaking in the steering wheel 40-45 mph. If you have a little shimmy anyway, wider tires and wheels often aggravate it.

There are "anti-shimmy" kits, generally stiffer bushings. But local guru says the compliance originally designed into the suspension is needed. Hasn't had great luck with stiffer kits.

So I recently replaced the front control arms, which included new bushings and ball joints. and the car is smoother now.
