If you know you have a good ground and all your connections are clean than I would remove the alternator and take it to Pepboys or someplace and have them test it for free. I would not bother trying to do, a do-it-yourself alt. rebuild unless you are really bored and don't need the car for awhile. HTH

i posted a message a little while ago....my battery goes dead when my lights are on but is fine when they arent on and i am driving. i have a new battery, new alternaor belt, and i also put in a new volage regulator, because someone told me that that might be the problem. in my haynes manual it says something about having to change the carbon brushes, or the holders or something like that, what are they referring to. and also which way does the regulator go in, because i can only screw the screws in one way but im prety sure when i took it out the prongs were the other way and it looks like they are in the diagram in the haynes manual. should i just get a new alternator? thanks for the help
