I have owned an 82 Alpina C1 since it was new. My other BMW is a 91 M5. I enjoy driving the C1 more than the M5, as it is so tossable and fun. I'll keep it until it is no longer drivable, but with 148,000 miles has been the most reliable BMW I've ever owned. Car doesn't leak any oil at all and what a wonderful sounding car at 4000+ rpm. Several dealers have asked how I get that wonderful sound, and the secret is the Alpina head work, cam, and resonator.

So the early Alpina cars are truly special cars, and my sons think they will eventually get that car. Fat chance.
