It's hard for me to turn down a mod (it's the Dr.Frankenstien element)! + I already have the 262. I checked the templates, and the bolts matched, which sealed the deal for me to pull it out of the scrapyard. What worries me is the gearing ratios and (I believe) it's 2-3 inches shorter than the 245, and I'm not eager to get into driveline altering.
4th gear (it's a 4-speed) is lower revving at speed, than 5th gear of the 245!

I don't know for sure, but since the 528 is the 2.8l 6 i doubt that it will bolt up to our little m10 4cyls. I could be wrong, but generally thats how it works.


The 528i tranny will bolt up to a M10 engine.... Weither or not it will fit into the E21 chassis?? I looked at installing this same tranny into a 2002 and it just doesn't fit into the car without major sugery of the transmission tunnel. Which is something I'm not about to do to my 2002.

Use a 245 tranny instead. There are many CS coupe,5 and 6 series guys looking for a nice 5 speed. Sell it to one of them....
