Yes the car is for auto-x and spends most of its time between the 3.5k-7k rpm range. I probably already have enough midrange lack since I mainly modded for the top end gain with 2.5" exhaust and 4" custom intake to the manifold. I guess I will just polish the stock manifold for now; since it is matched for the 1.8L breathing.
Did all 1.8L 80-83' 320i come with the square top manifold? I look at the bmw etk and it shows the other style as well. Which models of 320i didn't have fuel injection? I always thought it was 77-79'. And lastly what is the most current year of 320i that doesn't have emissions? 1979?

If you are not changing the stroke and displacement, I don't think you are gonna have good results. A loss in low to mid torque and probably all across the rpm band. Each manifold is designed for the bore, stroke and piston speed of the motor it goes on. If you spend a lot of time in the high rpms, there is a chance it will be a good move. I doubt it. Just enough is just right for any intake sizing.
